2018 Season Schedule
We plan to run the full schedule for 2018 at our home track, 61 Kartway. Here’s a link to their website where you can find out more details for the season as they are announced.
2018 IGNITE CHALLENGE SERIES
Introducing the spec Ignite Challenge series! Returning for its second season in 2018, the Ignite Challenge will introduce the popular spec Ignite program to a regional level of racing. Traveling to five existing Midwest area Ignite tracks, the Challenge schedule will make a stop at the Gateway Kartplex, Autobahn County Club, Mid-State Kart Club, TNT Kartways and 61 Kartway. The Ignite Challenge will serve as the next level of competition for local Ignite competitors all around the Midwest, allowing them to race against new competition at some of the most prestigious karting tracks in the country. Racers will be able to take the same Ignite K3 package they run on a weekly basis to new tracks without the hassle of changing weights, tires or slides. Each Ignite track enforces the same 2018 rules package, ensuring that racers can load up the trailer and hit the track with ease.
Each event will have official practice sessions followed by qualifying, prefinal and final. Racers traveling to each event will have the opportunity to run additional practice before the action begins at the specified times listed below. The entry fee for each event will be $70, which will include each facilities standard weekly entry fee. Transponders will be available for rent through each track.
The Championship Awards Banquet will be held at the Four Points Sheraton St. Louis on February 1, 2019 alongside the Gateway Kartplex banquet. Series champions and top-5 point finishers will be recognized for their achievements throughout the season, accompanied extensive prize pool provided by Margay Racing to celebrate their season long battles. Drivers must have contested in at least 3 Ignite Challenge races to be eligible for banquet awards. Along with an impressive prize package, Ignite Challenge champions will receive a FREE Margay tent entry to the 2019 Rock Island Grand Prix Ignite Shootout.
Labor Day Weekend
During the day, racers go head to head against the best in the sport on the safest street circuit in karting. At night competitors and spectators enjoy the nightlife of The Downtown Rock Island Arts & Entertainment District.
The Rock Island Grand Prix ranks as the ultimate experience in kart racing. There is no greater thrill than racing through city streets at speeds approaching 100 MPH, one inch off the ground as thousands of spectators cheer you on.
A family of more than 200 volunteers reunite each year to produce the race weekend for competitors who come from coast to coast as well as many foreign countries. There is nothing like the atmosphere of “The Rock.”
