I know this post comes a little late, but just wanted to go over some highlights from weekend #2 of the Mid-American Sprint Series at Badger Kart Club in Dousman, WI.
Saturday morning got off to a wet start with rain overnight and again during the first part of practice. Finally the clouds parted and the sun peaked out to let Ashton get some much needed track time as this was his first time running at Dousman. The first few laps of practice were sketchy on fresh rubber and a damp track, but once all of the the classes ran a couple of rounds and laid some rubber down, Ashton’s kart was hooking up nicely.
Ashton ended up qualifying second. He struggled a little bit in the pre-final and ended up spinning himself out mid race, which meant he would have to start in the back for the feature. In the feature, he moved up to second place behind local racer Camdin Hellmich. Although Ashton fought hard to try to make a clean pass, Hellmich held on for the win, Ashton 2nd, Prybil 3rd, Warke 4th, and Glodowski 5th.
Focus was on adjusting the setup for Sunday. Taking what we learned from Saturday, we made a couple minor adjustments. Ashton qualified on the pole for Sunday’s pre-final and brought home the win in the feature.
Another great weekend of racing, and a new track under his belt. We will not be in attendance for Round #3 for MASS at Shawno, WI due to soccer and baseball commitments. Our next race will be Round #1 for the 206 Cup series held right back at Badger Kart Club in Dousman.
